The Bay Area Red Cross supplies more than 40 Bay Area hospitals with 10,000 units of blood every month to meet the needs of patients in our community. The Red Cross currently collects only 7,000 units of blood each month in the Bay Area so new blood donors are needed to come forward and previous blood donors need to become regular blood donors in order to meet this demand. In the meantime, blood is imported from other states to meet our need.
