Prospective Eagle Projects

Eagle Advancement
The three Eagle-related files on this web page have been updated recently with respect to the following:
Recommendation letters (Requirement #2) will still be solicited by the troop committee; however, the recommendation letters themselves are to be returned directly to the Muir District Eagle Board of Review Vice-Chair, rather than to the troop committee. The form requesting the recommendation letters has been sent to all troop and venturing crew leaders. If your troop does not have a copy, please contact the District Advancement Chair for a copy.
When submitting a project plan to the benefiting organization for approval, allow sufficient time for the organization to include the appropriate level of coordination. Many school districts require at least 30 days for their approval process, so that their maintenance staff can review/approve the plans (in addition to the local contact's approval).

Frequently Asked Questions (PDF)

Following are a number of projects that various organizations in the area have suggested as potential Eagle projects. However, no additional information has been made available to the Muir District Eagle Project coordinator, so these suggestions cannot be considered as "guaranteed" or "required" projects. It is the responsiblity of the Eagle candidate to work with his Eagle Advisor and the Muir District Eagle Project Coordinator to ensure that planning and carrying out of the project will fully demonstrate the candidate's leadership of others.

UPDATE - Please note that blood drives were disallowed as Eagle Service Projects within Muir District in mid- to late-2009, and are not being accepted as viable service projects for the Eagle rank. A primary driver for this is that the blood drive organizations use essentially a "canned" process for the entire drive, so there are minimal opportunities for the Eagle candidate to demonstrate leadership.

Any questions on Eagle Service Projects should be directed to Derek Brown (Eagle Projects Review Vice-Chair).
