For more than 40 years the local annual fund raising campaign for the Boy Scouts of America has been called Friends of Scouting,
FOS for short. Friends of Scouting gifts are those charitable contributions that are made to support the overall operation of the
Mt. Diablo Silverado Council, Boy Scouts of America. Our council receives no government funding and must rely on the generous
support of our families, community leaders, companies and other "Friends" to help insure that Scouting continues its mission to
provide a time tested age appropriate program of character development for our young people. Each year in addition to what you
spend directly with your pack, troop, team, or crew more than $175 per youth member is needed to be raised by Scouting.
Examples of your Friends of Scouting dollars at work:
- Each district is staffed with a qualified and trained professional.
- The Pleasant Hill Service Center is maintained and available for the use of our volunteers.
- Camp Berryessa, Camp Herms, Camp Lindblad, and Camp Wolfeboro are maintained and available for our use.
- Units and leaders are covered with liability insurance as the Scouting program is
conducted. Youth are covered with health and accident insurance.
- Quality programs such as Cub Scout Day Camps, Cub Resident Camp, Weekend Camps, summer
and specialty camp programs are conducted.
- EVERY PENNY donated through Family Friends of Scouting stays in the Council benefiting the youth of Mt. Diablo Silverado Council, BSA
